Welcome to this page. This is an upload of pictures taken on our recent trip to Mexico during the second week in November, 2006, specifically to the city of San Miguel de Allende, where Jeanine's cousin, Michael and his wife, Edna, live. We really needed a vacation rest - particularly Jeanine, who had spent the summer and fall in an exhausting campaign for political office. It seemed like a grand opportunity to see some of a country which Chuck had not visited, get reacquainted with charming members of Jeanine's family, and do it without telephones or mail!

What's in a name? In this case, San Miguel is the name of a mission established by the Spanish in about 1543 or so. Allende is the surname of Ignacio Allende, a leader of the abortive first revolt against the Spanish by native Mexicans. He is much revered in the region, and it is his name that is on the famous art institute that attracted many U.S. ex-soldiers after WWII when they found they could get a good art education there on their GI Bill and live inexpensively.

Okay, the pictures. They have been placed in four different groups, with links to the thumbnail pages on the left of this page. Enjoy!
